I decided that it was time to start selling my clothes. I am having them sewn up at the moment but here is a taste of what is to come.
I am not making clothes for the shy, the preppy and blend-ins. Sorry.
These are seriously bad-ass drop-crotch army pants. Made from vintage wool with a three-quarter leg, permanent cuffs, flat- felled seams (like in jeans) attached belt and four pockets. Button on back is vintage British Military.
I love this look- I'm sure I am not alone.
Pants inspired by the song "Last Film" by 80's band Kissing The Pink.
Sometimes you just have to leap into things with all your spirit and see what happens. Do you do that?

These. Are. Awesome.
Keep sewing with your heart! The world has too many blend-ins. Conformity only benefits manufacturers--your stuff will find it's home with the right people if you just keep putting it out there. Beautiful!!! Well done!
i'm definitely trying to do that...
I love em, great look too:0)
Oh my god, "kissing the pink" - I loved "Certain Things are Likely" have to listen to that song again. And your pants are so cool! And regarding your question - I try to do that, not always successfully though:-)
good on you Don. Last year when I said that I was going to take my Haiku poems with me to sell at my exhibition people said "these only mean stuff to you, no one else will want them" But having attitude at 49 not out, meant that I disregarded them and sold $100 of poetry. That taught me that the heart knows the truth. Soon Ill be saying oh yeah, I used to read Dons blog way back when.....
great!
I want to be like you when I grow up...those pants are "tight!" (i.e. awesome!)
You have such a daring sense of fashion.
You rock so much. I love the entire photo shoot. I'm sure your stitches will find their market as surely as your jewelry. Awesome.
Those look great on you, Don. Good luck with your new endeavor!
You Rock!
absolutely, and no matter what happens, i am never sorry... if you have the impulse and can figure out the execution, it simply must be done... these are fabulous! you are a very very talented man... inspiring...
Brilliant Don - love the "can-do" attitude - in fact I just love your attitude full stop! This will be a successful venture for sure. Oh and may I say thanks for doing your part in saving the world from becoming one big homogeneous fashion blend?!
Good luck! I do wish you a very late Happy Birthday - the post was lost when Blogger had some sort of issue.
I hope these take off because you really ought to be designing and creating all that you do full time. The photography and the colour combinations are great too.
Congrats on taking the leap into the sales arena. No doubt your designs will be a hit!
Goodness. It's a good thing for my marriage that we are separated by such a great distance! I must get myself a drink of cool water and then have one of my "cool down" cocktails after viewing you in these clothes (which look sensational by the way). You have literally bloomed since we first "met." Good on you! Your question about jumping in: Do I do that? No, but the time's coming I am sure! Cheers, Don.
Don, maybe when you have these up for sale, list the sizing (waist, etc.) so they can be for either sex-maybe show them on both, too? I can totally see these being worn by women, who sometimes take a few more chances with looks.
Thanks everyone. Seems the leap of faith have paid off so far as I just sold these pants on Etsy within two days of listing them. How happy am I!!!
These are gorgeous! You are my hero :). I´m always looking forward to what you make next... Jana
Just stopped back by to tell you I've given you the Versatile Blogger Award, please stop by to pick it up:

While I love the look of many of the clothes you make and always appreciate someone not trying to blend in, I think I've spent too much time (both as a mother and older sister of babies) not to have an immediate diaper association to these. But very cool on selling them.
Go Don!! May appreciative people buy and enjoy your work! Kudos to you for going for it.
I love 'em. Boy clothes are boring. It's time to shake things up a bit!
I love what you said at the end of this post. I don't do that nearly enough, and I should. :)
ack! I had forgotten all about this band! ♥♥
